Today we held Edlin’s annual Pumpkin Chunkin’ Festival! This is a tradition of Edlin School, and it is a wonderful day during which the students learn about the Physics behind how our school’s trebuchet works. Topics for this year’s festival included: potential/kinetic energy, simple machines, mechanical advantage and projectile motion. We also flung pumpkins nearly 200 feet across our playground!
Students were divided into upper and lower grade groups, and spent about an hour moving between stations explaining the aforementioned topics. Each station provided the opportunity for students to experience and learn a different aspect of physics.
