This week, our fourth-grade students embarked on a captivating journey to the National Gallery of Art for the “Every Picture Tells a Story” program. Beyond a typical field trip, it was a language arts odyssey, encouraging students to ‘read’ paintings and unravel the narratives within each brushstroke.
Students sharpened their observation and critical questioning skills during four gallery stops. The program encouraged creativity and analytical thinking as students formulated questions and explored paintings from various perspectives, revealing captivating stories within the canvas.
